A couple things, quickly. Wrote a bit about horse slaughter today, a bill passed by the House Thursday could end the sale of wild mustangs for slaughter by the Bureau of Land Management.

Did anyone catch the opening ceremony to the Winter Olympics the other night?

There seems to be something about the Olympic games that cause those participating in the organization and set-up of the lavish opening ceremony to lose all touch with reality.

During the Parade of Nations, this is the part of the opening ceremony where the athletes are introduced by nation and march around the stadium waving miniature flags, a selection of music is played while the athletes enter and walk around the stadium. (more…)

Baseball stadiums via Google Earth January 13, 2006

For several days now I have been using the cool Google Earth (if you haven’t checked it out you really should) program to dig up satellite images of Major League Baseball stadiums, a free moment here and there and I found them all. They’re just kind of neat, I thought. There are even some older stadiums in there, some of the images of current stadiums aren’t that updated (like U.S. Cellular Field) but at PNC there is a game going on. The only stadium that wasn’t available in high res on Google Earth was Miller Park in Milwaukee, it fell just outside the realm of the city that was imaged in high res. The rest are there though.
